You will be rewarded with a couple of seeds each time. First, plant the gel sacks you obtained during your expedition. With them, you can effectively have an unlimited supply of gel sacks, with a bit of waiting between batches. Once you’ve got a couple of gel sacks, your next priority should be to build a few grow beds at your base. Here’s the entrance you should look out for: A Reinforced Dive Suit will negate this damage. There is some danger, however, as the cave is populated by Tiger Plants, which will shoot damaging barbs at you. In this hole is a cave system, the walls of which are lined with rubies. Roughly 1,000 meters from your Lifepod will be a ridge pockmarked by huge crags, easily visible when near to the surface.Ī little further from these crags is a large hole, with lots of debris surrounding its entrance. If not, simply follow a southwest heading starting from your Lifepod. If you have that beacon active, you’ll easily be able to find the area. One of the most reliable areas I found was located in the Sparse Reef, close to Lifepod 19. The Blood Kelp Zone is another great place, which I’ll talk about later on.įor a more precise excursion, there are a couple of locations that act more or less as a guarantee for rubies. This will lead you mostly to the Grand Reef, Lost River, and the Lava Zones. You should also be checking hotter areas, like the geothermal vents scattered around the map, provided they are sufficiently deep. Rubies can be found no shallower than 200m, though you’ll want to delve a little deeper for more reliable results. They can be used for a few different crafts, allowing you to make depth modules for Subnautica’s three vehicles, a power cell charger, and of course, aerogel.Īlso Read: Best Places to Find Lithium Subnautica This is especially effective with a Scanner Room HUD Chip.Rubies should be the higher priority of the two materials. Not only can it be used to scan for resources, but it can also be used to keep track of the Reaper Leviathans in the vicinity. If building a base in the Dunes, a Scanner Room is incredibly useful. It is recommended to keep track of where the Reaper Leviathans reside and give those areas a wide berth. It is recommended to approach the sinkhole with caution, as there is a Reaper Leviathan that is always close to it.Įven in the daytime, the Dunes are quite dark and murky, making it difficult to see threats. Reaper Leviathans often wander close to the hydrothermal vents so tread carefully.įour Sea Crowns are located within the sinkhole of this biome. Most of the Flora and Coral is also located near these, alongside Lithium and Rubies. Gasopods can be found, alongside their eggs, near the several hydrothermal vents in this biome. These leviathans and the PDA summary of the biome heavily discourage players from entering the biome. It is also home to many dangerous types of Fauna, the most notable one being the eight Reaper Leviathans that patrol the open spaces of the biome. The Dunes features vast, sandy plains and dunes, sometimes littered with various types of rock structures. One of the five Sea Emperor Juveniles can be found here after the Sea Emperor Leviathan Eggs have been hatched. Spoiler alert: The following section contains story related material.Ī Sanctuary Cache can be found within the meteor crater.Īn Alien Vent Entrance Point is found in the Dunes. This biome also harbors a large crater from a meteor impact, which can be found close to the border with the Northern Blood Kelp Zone. The Dunes Caves are found within along with a Cuddlefish egg, located right in the center of the sinkhole. Another two, smaller wrecks are also found in the Dunes near the Sea Treader's Path border.Ī large sinkhole can be found southwest from the larger wreck. One can be found near the Northwestern Mushroom Forest, having seemingly slid down the sandy dunes from the forest. The Dunes is a biome located west from Lifepod 5, on the edge of the map, bordering one of the Grassy Plateaus, Sea Treader's Path, one of the Safe Shallows, both of the Blood Kelp Zones, the Northwestern Mushroom Forest and the Crater Edge.
